Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD): Misdiagnosed and Misunderstood
This presentation will provide an overview of FTD including a discussion on specific disorders classified as FTD, how it is diagnosed, and available treatment & therapeutic interventions. We will also discuss available support for people living with FTD and their families, as well as opportunities for promoting awareness of FTD within our communities.
Presenter Bio
Marisa Romanini is a volunteer Community Educator with The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD). She brings over two decades of experience in senior living to the organization, with a heavy emphasis on Dementia Care and support for those living with cognitive change. She also has an extensive background in creating and providing educational tools for caregivers. Marisa’s passion for spreading knowledge and awareness of FTD comes from personal experience seeing the challenges her residents have faced with obtaining appropriate diagnosis and supportive interventions. She supports the mission and vision of the AFTD in seeking a world with compassionate care, effective support, and a future free of FTD.
